The second international competition "Mediterranean Romansiada 2021" invites performers from different countries to participate!

Dates of the Second International Competition "Mediterranean Romansiada 2021": June 24-25, 2021 at the concert hall of the Russian House in Cyprus (Russian Cultural Centre).

The first international competition "Mediterranean Romansiada" was held in Cyprus in March 2020 and was attended by contestants from Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Latvia.  The Cypriot singer Marios Andreou became the Grand Prix winner.

The main organizers of the Mediterranean Romansiada competition are the Romansiada Charitable Foundation for the Preservation of the Art of Russian Romance and the Russian House in Cyprus, with the support of state, public and non-profit organizations in Russia and Cyprus.

The main idea of ​​the competition is to promote the art of Russian romance as one of the few truly domestic forms of musical art, the  continuation and development of the best traditions of Russian romance performance, the  search and creative support for new talented artists in Russia, the  strengthening creative ties with young performers from foreign countries, the  activation of the romance creativity of contemporary composers.  The "Mediterranean Romansiada" competition is a stage of a complex of competitions that are held in different cities of Russia and in many countries of the world annually from July to December and which ends with the final in Moscow, in one of the best concert halls in the capital of Russia.

During the competition, participants must demonstrate mastery of different styles of Russian romance performance - academic, salon, modern.  It is allowed to perform music only by Russian authors, in Russian.

The jury of the international competition "Mediterranean Romansiada" consists of outstanding masters of romance, as well as well known artists from Russia and Cyprus.

The competition in all categories consists of one round with the performance of 2 pieces of different genres.  The depth of reading the author's text, the understanding of style, artistry, mastery of professional skills, individuality are assessed.

Musical accompaniment - piano or guitar.  In exceptional cases, the organizing committee grants the performer the right to perform with a phonogram (minus).

Travel, meals and accommodation are at the expense of the competitor.

Rehearsals for the performance at the competition stage - one day before the competition (The work of the accompanist is paid separately. The schedule of the accompanists is drawn up in advance).

The jury determines the laureates of the first, second and third prizes, as well as the winners of the competition.  It is possible to split one prize between several participants.  In addition, it is possible to award the Grand Prix to one of the finalists whose talent and skill deserve special appreciation.  In the final of the competition, the jury sums up the results collectively, with a detailed discussion of the performance of each of the contestants, by simple voting (without scoring).  The “Prize of the People's Choice”, “Charm” and other prizes are awarded.

The “Mediterranean Romansiada” competition in 2021 will be held in the following categories:

  •  Children's category (up to 17 years old)
  •  Adult professionals (including students of professional music schools)
  •  Adult amateurs

Due to the difficulties in moving across borders, this year, a separate competition "Mediterranean Romansiada 2021-Online" will be held within the framework of the competition in the following categories:

  •  Children's category (up to 17 years old)
  •  Adult professionals (including students of professional music schools)
  •  Adult amateurs

The hearing auditions to the participants of the online competition will be held online.  The audition schedule will be announced later.  The “Mediterranean Romansiada 2021” Terms and Conditions apply to the “Mediterranean Romansiada 2021 Online”.

The organizers of the competition are preparing a series of master classes for the contestants from the leading professionals of the genre.
